Regina, SK - The safety of our clients, members, partners, and the public are a top priority to the Saskatchewan Safety Council. As part of the Council’s Pandemic Emergency Response, the following outlines our current and planned response to the Coronavirus outbreak. Current Saskatchewan Safety Council Response: As safety is paramount, we have elected to voluntarily remain with our office closed to public access as our staff continue to work hard to ensure that we can re-start training sessions in a way that is both safe and effective. We believe it is important that we take the necessary time to ensure the highest level of safety for all. We have a plan in place to provide training when it is safe to do so in compliance with guidelines set out by the Government of Saskatchewan. We are in the process of preparing our facilities in a way that will allow us to maintain the safety of all involved and provide the best training experience available. Facilities precautions include but are not limited to: Shared facilities, office equipment, and common touch surfaces such as telephones, computers, reception areas, and washrooms, are receiving increased cleaning and disinfection All staff must wash hands upon entry and exit of building Decontamination Station for visitors is located at front entrance to building with hand sanitizer and mask distribution Non-essential items have been removed from client waiting area, including magazines, brochures, promotional materials etc. Plastic shielding has been installed around cubicles and in the point-of-sale area (front counter) Seating capacities have been reduced in all areas to maintain a minimum physical distancing of 2 meters Signage has been put in place to encourage physical distancing through the one-way movement of foot traffic throughout the building Our high-risk staff continue to work remotely Programs Fall Protection Training has been moved to our online Learning Management System and is now available free of charge. Work Zone Traffic Accommodation training is now available online. Motorcycle: Basic Rider Training will soon resume in a new blended learning format combining online with on-course practical training. Safety procedures put in place to comply with COVID-19 restrictions include: the new blended learning approach, allowing the classroom portions of the class to be completed online prior to the course date; a new location to accommodate the practical on-course riding portion; requirements to sanitize hands before entry and requirements for wearing face masks. Participants will also be encouraged to stay on one bike instead of trying out different styles of bike throughout the program. Our fleet of bikes will be rotated through a quarantine cycle between courses and staff will sanitize the bikes prior to a participant receiving it.
