Community Safety Seminar - Balancing Individual Safety, Community Safety, and Quality of Life

Regina, SK - For 46 years, the Saskatchewan Safety Council (Est. 1955) has been bringing together individuals and organizations in the name of safety through its Industrial Safety Seminar. The Community Safety Seminar will combine sessions of relevance to all those in the province who work directly or indirectly with youth and seniors.

The Community Safety Seminar will be held Thursday, October 3, 2019 at Conexus Arts Centre, Regina, Saskatchewan. It will gather together presenters, businesses, non-profit organizations, and like-minded individuals to learn about, discuss, and strategize ways in which participants can Work Together to Achieve a Safe Saskatchewan.

“Safety is more than hard hats and harnesses; steel-toed boots and hi-vis vests. It’s about the physical and mental well-being of all those who live in our province, and not just while they’re at work. We need to come together and have conversations on topics like fraud, emergency preparedness, loneliness, and addictions. We need to transition all that is done well in workplaces to start applying it at home. The Community Safety Seminar is a step towards safer communities,” says Robert Weitzel, Director of Business Development with the Council.

On the Agenda

  • Telephone Reassurance Program: Companionship is the Key – Red Cross
  • Fraud Prevention – Canadian Western Bank
  • Aging with Confidence – Forever in Motion
  • Improving Community Health & Well-Being – Community Safety and Well-Being, Government of Saskatchewan
  • Emergency Preparedness: What is your Plan, is your family/staff ready? The Who, What, Where and How of Emergency Planning – City of Regina
  • The Effects of Poverty of Relationships: Addictions in families– Prairie Sky Recovery Centre Inc.
  • Creating Connections: First Impressions Matter (How to Network Effectively) – Clarity Coaching & Development
  • Keynote: Rod Pederson – Hope, Recovery and Strength

Cost to attend is $25 with special consideration given to non-profit groups. Community Safety Seminar is open to the media. Information on registration and sponsorship can be found at www.sasksafety.org/events/community-safety-seminar
